This is now a wishing well in the garden of a house called Petersville so named in the 1950's by the father of the present occupier who took the named from the field title ( Peter's Well Meadow on a map of 1427). At that time the well was already overgrown and within the past 5 years the current owner cleaned out the site, bricked around it and erected a typical wishing well cover. He told me that when he cleaned it out it was stone lined with a shallow bell shaped basin. Site is alongside path from the Church ( St Peter and St Paul) and Leeson-Day in 1934 notes that it was "near church bridges and no doubt used for church purposes";he also notes that " there is a well in the NE corner of the churchyard which was used within living memory", but no trace of this could be found. Listed in the Devon Sites and Monuments Register.
