The presence of a holy well in Weare Giffard is supported by an entry in the Glebe Terrier of 1727 which says" there belongs to the Parish Church of Weare Giffarda well of pure water walled and headed with stone raised walls called Trinity Well being to the north side of the highway road and adjoining to the east end of an house where the Clerk of the Parish fetches the water for Baptisms". With such clear directions it should be possible to locate the site with ease but changes in the village make identification difficult. Local information suggests that until recent years there was a well in the Glebe Field and which had the remains of an old wall around it; unfortunately this has been covered by modern farming and the location cannot be identified. The Glebe Field is still owned by the church and its location does fit in with the directions listed in the Terrier; perhaps a detailed survey may still find the the well but meanwhile the footpath along the field edge does give a glimpse of the general site.
