This little well lies at the bend in a muddy lane which runs alongside the churchyard in the Anglo-Saxon founded village of Bradworthy. It consists of a rubble stone structure set into a hedge bank and fitted with a locked metal gate. Inside is an arched stone span with a basin of water just below ground level. Prior to 1859 it was clay-sided and was dug down to 6 feet in depth and used as the local water supply. The church here is dedicated to John the Baptist but prior to the Reformation was dedicated to St Peter. Very little local awareness of the well and no knowledge of traditions associated with it. Listed in the Devon Sites and Monuments Register
